Am I allowed to stay with my pet?
For the safety and well-being of all pets, we ask that owners refrain from staying with their pets during grooming appointments. Many pets experience stress and anxiety in a new environment, and having their owners present can sometimes increase their discomfort. Our experienced groomers work to create a calm and positive experience for each pet, allowing them to relax and focus on the grooming process. By remaining absent, owners help reduce distractions and ensure that their pets receive the full attention and care they need. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in creating the best environment for your pet's grooming experience.
What should I expect?
When you arrive, you will send a text to 815-370-4840. We will meet you in the driveway and discuss your pets appointment (hairstyle, estimated time-frame, etc). Next, we will bring your pet inside and give them some snuggles/playtime. Once they're more relaxed, we will start the grooming process! Your pet will be with a staff member at all times for their safety and comfort. At the end of the grooming process, your pet will receive an adorable photoshoot! Our staff will notify you via text to let you know your pet is ready to be picked up! Payment is due at pick-up. When you arrive, you will send a text, and we will bring your pet out to you!
What is matting and impaction?
Matting is formed from tangles in a pet's coat. Matting typically happens due to lack of brushing, improper brushing, and improper care of a pet's coat type. You can avoid matting by regularly brushing your pet at home or bringing your pet to a groomer regularly to be brushed out. We offer FREE lessons as to how to brush your pet through videos. We also can teach you how to brush your pet in person for the price of a brush out session.
Impaction is formed from dead hair getting stuck in the dog's coat. This is common in high shedding double coated breeds such as German Shepherds, Huskies, St Bernards, and more. You can avoid impaction by having regular deshedding/grooming appointments for your pet. Regular brushing at home can also reduce/avoid impaction based on frequency and quality of brushes/methods being used. We offer FREE lessons as to how to brush your pet through videos. We also can teach you how to brush your pet in person for the price of a brush out session.
What type of appointments do you offer?
We offer two types of appointments: one on one and group appointments!
One on one appointments are best for client pets who have medical/behavioral conditions, senior age, and more. One on one includes only a single client's pet(s). All cats, new clients, pets with severe medical conditions, and most senior or reactive/anxious pets are required to be booked one on one. We are able to do multiple pets from the same home with one on one appointments. These appointments do book up quickly, so we recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance.
Group appointments are best to get a sooner appointment date for well-mannered pets. Group appointments are restricted to regular clients and well mannered pets. All dogs are sorted into "groups" based on behavior and size/coat. This allows us to know what pets will do best while within sight/sound of each other (they are not able to greet each other, however auras can affect stress levels.) Since we get to know the pets so well, we know what groups they will do best in! This helps keep everyone calm and happy and prevent them from sitting in a kennel most of the day like most corporate grooming salons.
Why should I consider an alternative to shaving my double-coated dog?
We always want the best for our clients and their pets. We will not turn down a shave down for a double coated breed but will educate owners on potential risks associated with shaving a double coated breed.
Potential risks: hair regrowth being affected, texture change, issues with temperature regulation, sunburn, and more.
Shaving a double coated breed will not reduce shedding. Instead, it just shortens the length of the hair being shed.
Alternatives to shaving: regular deshedding appointments to thin out coat and remove dead hair or regular groom appointments to shorten hair length on stomach, butt, legs, paws, chest and more.
How often should my pet be groomed?
This varies based on your pet's breed, how often you brush your pet, coat length and the condition of your pet's coat. Typically, we recommend 3-6 weeks for poodles/doodles and 4-8 weeks for most other breeds.
How often should my pet get a nail trim?
General rule of thumb is every 4 weeks. Based on how long your pet's nails are and how quickly they grow, your pet may need a nail trim sooner than 4 weeks.
Nail trims are important for your pet! Inside of the nail, there is a quick (blood supply in the nail.) Without regular nail trims, the quick will grow longer. Longer quicks are harder to recede as it takes multiple frequent nail trims to push the quick back. Long nails can cause discomfort, change of foot shape, arthritis, and more!
